Asphalt when hauled as a bulk commodity, is liquid in form. It is also referred to as hot oil, or asphalt cement. We haul asphalt to bulk plants and road construction mixing plants. Our customers mix the liquid asphalt cement with aggregate products to produce the asphalt used primarily in road building and repair.

Emulsion is used in preparation of paving, where it is sprayed on the base work of roadways before a layer of hot asphalt is paved over top. It is also used in chip sealing applications, where it is sprayed on the roads before being covered and packed with aggregate to re-surface a road.

We haul asphalt throughout western and northern Canada including BC, AB, SK, MB, YT and NT. You can find our asphalt and emulsion loads going anywhere there is a large-scale road construction contract.

We use super B trailer for asphalt loads and a combination of super B and straight trailers for emulsion deliveries.

Our western and northern Canadian climate keeps the asphalt and emulsion seasonal haul confined to summer. Our season ramps up around the May long weekend and typically winds down by the end of September, beginning of October.

If asphalt (hot oil) does not maintain a temperature of 100 degrees Celsius it will harden in the trailer and we have to reheat the trailer using a steam system that can take a couple days! It’s therefore really important our asphalt drivers are committed to on time service.
